In our last hours in Granada we had the opportunity to visit Plaza de Toros (bullfighting Arena). First of all – we do not intend to participate in the near future in a tournament which involve any kind of animal cruelty or abuse. This article is not about the fights, it is about the experience of visiting something exotic, it’s about our discovery of a talented person who has been for almost 45 minutes  our guide.

From the beginning for us the establishment was something exotic, and we were eager to discover what’s inside :-).

We took some turns around the building, and we thought at the beginning that the arena was closed, and that the only human activity in the area came  from the restaurants that rented  parts of the building. We decided to go on with our plans and continue to our next destination,  but we’ve had luck and we saw a woman  at the ticket office, a woman that soon we’ll be revealed to us  as an excellent tour guide.

The entrance fee was 6 euro per person with „personal guide” included :-).  And we had the pleasure to participate in  one of the best tour that we attended so far. We learnt some historical data, we visited the chambers where they keep the bulls, we visited the infirmary, the chapel and during all this time, Puri Melero, our guide made the tour interactive, enjoyable and most of all very interesting.

The tour itself was created ad-hoc by her, and she was able to answer to all our questions, even though, as she said: „I know my English is not good  😉 but i will do my best”. And she did a wonderful job, and as you probably know the English in a Spanish accent is adorable .

In the end we encouraged her to develop a professional tour, because  the monument  really has touristic potential, and we thanked her for the tour.

In December we’ve received an email from Puri Melero with a very comprehensive brochure about the aspects of the bullfights and the future tours; her and probably the management   developed  well organised tours in different languages. For more information visit the site: www.monumental360.es

This is our first article in English and we did it for Puri Melero! See you next time!
